11th Week Day 1~2

Study Pile Cap Design
Used Reinforced Concrete DEsign by /T .J. MacGinley

A pile cap is a thick concrete mat that rests on piles. It is part of the Foundation of a building, typically a multi-storey building, structure or heavy equipment. The pile cap distributes the load from the pillars, or piers, to the Deep foundation. A similar structure to a pile cap is a "raft", which is a foundation floor resting directly on bedrock.

The problem with designing pile cap is that the examples for pile can usually come in even number.

In construction, there will be pile cap with 3 piles beneath it. The distribution of forces and moment induced will be different.
